Tomkinson’s Reunion

Over 50 people who used to work at Tomkinson’s attended the reunion held on Friday 17 April. Amongst those were Edna Styles, who at 104, was our eldest visitor.  Edna worked in the carpet industry in the 1920’s starting off as cleaner to Mr Tomkinson before becoming a bagger (we weren’t too sure what that was – do you know?).Mrs Edna Styles (2)

Visitors came from all over the town, but the Tony Hardwick and Mike & Gwen Farmer from Burnley with Melvyn person travelling the furthest was Mike Farmer, who attended with his wife, Gwen. They came all the way from Burnley where they now live. From one textile town to another!

If you want to see more images, go to the Museum’s Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/museumofcarpet – where’s there’s plenty more photos.
