Donating Items to the Collections

The Museum of Carpet is still collecting objects, documents and photographs relating to the carpet industry in Kidderminster and across the UK.

We benefit greatly from the kind donations made by the many supporters of the Museum and we are always extremely grateful to those people who donate items to add to our collection.

If you have an object or document that you think would be of interest to the Museum, and you wish to donate it to our collections, please get in touch.

  • Via mail – write to us with details and photographs of the item/s and information on its history or provenance if known. Please mark your letter FAO the Collections Committee.
  • Via email – please email collections@museumofcarpet.org.uk if you have something you would like to donate. Send us details and if possible, attach images of the item/s.
  • In person –  visit the reception and bring along details of the item/s including photographs – please do not bring the item/s with you just in case we cannot accept it as an acquisition.

We will then consider these details at our next Collections Committee meeting and we will be in contact to advise you as to whether we can accept the items.

We are obliged to ensure that every acquisition is made in accordance with our Collections Policy and that we have the right resources available to conserve and store donated objects appropriately. As a result, it is not always possible for us to accept everything which is offered to us.

However, if we are unable to accept your donation, we try, where possible, to suggest an alternative recipient.
