February Tuesday 5th Vintage Bunting Workshop Learn techniques of how to incorporate old and well-loved vintage textiles into a unique heirloom of your handiwork from re-cycled fabrics. 10am-4pm, Cost £40pp
Thursday 21st Rag Rug Making Workshop Jenni Stuart Anderson, rag rug artist will introduce you to this traditional technique for making beautiful rugs, wall hangings and seat mats. 10am – 4pm, Cost£40pp
March Wednesday 6th Tour of the Archive Get a behind the scenes view of the Museum of Carpet. Find out how we look after the collection and discover some of the gems that are not on permanent display. 10.30am-12.30pm, Cost £10pp
Wednesday 13th Braiding Workshop Julie Hedges, expert braider, will teach you the traditional method of Ply Split Braiding using a variety of yarn. Suitable for beginners and those who would like to learn more and develop their skills. All materials are provided. 10am – 4pm, Cost £40pp
Thursday 28th Paper Cut Workshop Vanessa Stone, paper cut artist, will introduce you to the different ways of working with paper. You will be drawing, designing and composing for paper cutting to create a floral image for Mother’s Day. 10am – 4pm, Cost £40pp
April Tuesday 2nd Indigo Dyeing Workshop Create a set of unique samples of dyed fabric. Prepare your fabrics using a variety ofshibori techniques before immersing your prepared cotton fabrics into an indigo vat. 10am – 4pm, Cost£40pp
Thursday 11th Needle Felting Workshop Make a fluffy Easter chick and if time, some friends for him to cuddle up too. The aim is to make a free standing chick … and maybe another one to keep him company, for you to take home. Great for an Easter present or pleasing display at home.
Fifty Friends enjoyed each others company and the entertainment provided at this year’s Christmas Social get-together at the Museum on Thursday December 6th.
A short film on the production and fitting of a special Axminster for the National Trust property, Felbrigg Hall, seasonal refreshments and drinks, and a super raffle followed by the December Carpet Sweep Draw.
The evening was brought to a close by our special Guests, the J.D.R. band who entertained us with a memorable set of songs from the golden years of the 60’s and 70’s.
