The Museum of Carpet is thrilled to have had donated, by trustee Heather Freeman, this length of Lucienne Day’s Tesserae carpet. It was originally found to be for sale in a second hand shop, and then subsequently on ebay. Now it has been acquired and will be exhibited by the museum to preserve the legacy of Lucienne Day, one of the country’s most innovative designers. Created for Kidderminster company, Tomkinson’s, it won a Design Centre Award and effectively launched Lucienne’s work in this new medium.  

Lucienne Day’s original artwork for Tesserae (the name references tiles) is held by the Museum of Carpet, and was exhibited in 2017 alongside the exhibition Lucienne Day: Living Design.
